Shropshire Way Walk
Free guided walk with Centre Manager, Grant Wilson
Please meet at the Centre at 9.30 prompt, ready to catch the bus at 09.56.
We begin with a bus ride from Craven Arms to our start point in Ludlow. We will follow the Shropshire Way from outside Ludlow’s historic castle, through the Plymouth Estate to cross the river Teme at Bromfield. We then continue through fields, lanes and woodland up through Aldon Gutter, the only vaguely significant climb of the day, before dropping into the Onny valley to pass the fortified medieval manor house of Stokesay Castle, before reaching journey’s end at the Discovery Centre for tea, cake and a browse of the shop.
Please note, there are no refreshments on route, so please bring drink and food. You should dress for the weather in suitable outdoor clothing.
Distance and ascent. 16.5 km (10.5 miles) with 350 metres of ascent. Expect 4-5 hours walking.
Numbers are limited to 20 people to ensure a place on the bus.
Price: Free but you will need to pay for your bus fare (£3.00) and refreshments at the finish.
